Description
‘Working together for better mental health’
About Us
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) provides mental health and learning disability care for people across Norfolk and Suffolk. We are dedicated to providing high quality care with compassion, delivering many of the NHS services that are provided outside of hospital and in the community. We have clinical teams providing services in inpatient, community and primary care settings and support a population of just over 1.6 million people with a dedicated workforce of over 5,000 staff. Our biggest bases are at Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich, Wedgwood House, Bury St Edmunds and Woodlands Unit in Ipswich but our staff are based in more than 50 locations.
Our Future Leadership Structure will see our clinical teams working more closely with partners at place level alongside strengthening clinical and professional leadership. We are also developing a Clinical Transformation Programme alongside our partners to enhance the clinical outcomes our service users experience as well as continuing to improve experience of care.
We know that we are at an early stage of our improvement and transformation journey and that we still have much more to do. The creation of our five locality groups is a key step towards transforming the way in which we work and provide care to those who need us.
We believe in ‘working together for better mental health’. We’re working closely with health and care partners and voluntary sector organisations to transform mental health care to ensure the people of Norfolk and Suffolk get help and support in the right place for them, when they need it, to stay mentally and emotionally well.
The Opportunity
Accountable to the Chief Nurse, and responsible for Psychological Professionals, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), and Social Workers in NSFT, you will provide visible leadership for all psychological practitioners working within the Trust so that psychological practice is aligned to the values, behaviours, cultural, and strategic objectives of NSFT.
As an experienced clinical leader, you will develop appropriate performance management systems and structures for the Trust’s psychological therapy, AHP, and social work services and workforce. You will support Service and Locality Directors in monitoring and managing performance, and ensure Trust priorities are met with a proportionally shared accountability and responsibility for the quality delivery of services. You will also lead on developments across services aiming for a model of continuous improvement.
You will provide professional leadership for Psychologists, AHPs, and Social Workers (and associated psychological therapies and counsellors as appropriate) to ensure these professional groups effectively contribute to the Trust strategic planning processes, and the achievement of Trust objectives and performance priorities.
You must be Professionally qualified (Doctorate or equivalent) as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or hold a Professional qualification in one of the mental health professions with an additional professional qualification in Psychological Therapy.
You will have substantial leadership experience, as well as experience of working as a qualified psychologist/ psychological therapist at consultant level within NHS mental health services, with experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups across the whole life course, and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
If you have a reputation for leadership, people development, safety, quality and improvement, alongside a passion for improving outcomes with a focus on equity and inclusion to ensure that mental health provision has parity across our partners, then please do consider applying for this role. We are determined to create a safer, kinder, and better organisation that our service users, families, carers, partner organisations, stakeholders and our staff can be proud of.
