Welcome from Caroline Donovan, Chief Executive

Welcome to our recruitment microsite for the recruitment of Directors to our five locality groups which are being created as part of our Future Leadership Structure for Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT).

We are looking for exceptional leaders to be appointed as Directors of Operations, Nursing Directors and Medical Directors in the following places: Central Norfolk, West Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.

Our Future Leadership Structure will see our clinical teams working more closely with partners at place level alongside strengthening clinical and professional leadership. We are also developing a Clinical Transformation Programme alongside our partners to enhance the clinical outcomes our service users experience as well as continuing to improve experience of care.

We are currently consulting with all staff at NSFT about our Future Leadership Structure and for those staff members who have been notified that they are in scope, this is now your opportunity to apply for a role in the new structure.

For staff who are not in scope or those who work outside of NSFT, please register your interest here and we will confirm the application process which will be live on 24 May 2024.

Our Trust has a workforce of over 5,000 hardworking, committed, and dedicated staff, but we have struggled for many years to provide the quality of care that we would wish to, and our service users and carers deserve.

There is however, much to be proud of with positive signs of improvement. Our CQC rating improved in the most recent inspection report published in February 2023, moving from Inadequate to Requires Improvement and a rating of Good for Caring overall. Despite this, we know we have much more to do.

We know that we are at an early stage of our improvement and transformation journey and that whilst this is an indication we are able to change and improve our services, we still have much more to do. The creation of our five locality groups is a key step towards transforming the way in which we work and provide care to those who need us.

Since I joined NSFT as its Chief Executive I continue to be impressed by the commitment and dedication I have witnessed from our workforce and our partners. The COVID-19 pandemic and national financial constraints continue to have a significant impact on people’s mental health, and we are seeing a significant rise in demand for services.

Our staff show resilience, compassion and professionalism to the pressure and demand of delivering care and supporting colleagues and we are focused on continuous improvement and development of our services to meet ever increasing demand. We are very excited about our clinically led Listening into Action Programme that started in December 2023. This is already driving action to improve the working lives of our staff as well as clinical improvement.

We are looking to appoint individuals who have a passion for our work and a track record of achievement in influencing colleagues and partners to deliver high quality care. We want to appoint inspirational and compassionate leaders who will develop their teams to provide outstanding care.

If you have a reputation for leadership and people development, quality and improvement and a passion for improving outcomes with a focus on equity and inclusion to ensure that mental health provision has parity across our partners, then please do consider applying for one of these vital roles. We are determined to create a safer, kinder, and better organisation that our service users, families, carers, partner organisations, stakeholders and our staff can be proud of.
